MACHETERO IMMIGRATION & REVOLUTION?
MACHETERO IMMIGRATION & REVOLUTION?
MACHETERO IMMIGRATION & REVOLUTION?
Last night i got a twitter message from a Darlye Lamont Jenkins a friend of mine who i met while on tour with RICANSTRUCTION. Daryle is a writer and does a lot of work around keeping neo-nazi’s, white power groups and other ultra right wing nuts in check. He keeps an eye on them and informs people of their next move. He does a lot of this work through the organization he co-founded called the One Peoples Project. Check out the website www.onepeoplesproject.com
So as Darlye was doing what he does he came across an update on this ultra right-wing racist webpage that he keeps an eye on and found a story that talked about Antonia Rivera who happens to be an illegal immigrant who is fighting for the Dream Act which would reform the process by which immigrants can gain citizenship. She is demanding these changes as an “out” illegal immigrant. In other words, she’s an illegal alien who is risking being arrested, thrown into prison while she’s processed for deportation. That’s something that takes guts. This website, Digger’s Realm is maintained by Dan Amato a man with more than a few ties to white supremacist groups.
What does this have to do with MACHETERO? Good question. On Antonia’s Facebook Page the only film listed is MACHETERO, so Dan Amato did some homework checked the MACHETERO IMDB page and made a link between the Aztlan (the southwestern part of the United States that originally was the northern part of Mexico before the Mexican- American War) as occupied territory and Puerto Rico as occupied territory. Since MACHETERO is a film about the use of violence to overthrow the occupation of Puerto Rico Dan Amato made this giant gymnastic leap in logic that Antonia must want to overthrow the US government in order to reclaim Aztlan because she “Likes” MACHETERO on her Facebook Page.
i wish that all i took was for someone to “Like” a film for a revolution to take place... It’s hilarious... i had a really good laugh with this one... Thanx Darlye, thanx Anotina and most of all thanx Dan Amato. Support Darlye’s work check out his organization One Peoples Project (www.onepeoplesproject.com) and support Antonia Rivera’s struggle to get the Dream Act passed by joining the Facebook page...
